Railcards: Discounted Train Travel

Railcards allow you to purchase train tickets at a reduced rate, typically 1/3 off the price of an adult ticket!

If you regularly travel by train, alone or with family or friends, investing in a Railcard could give you great savings in the long run!

How does it work?

Most of the listed one-year Railcards cost £35 and selected three-year versions cost £80. Disabled Persons Railcard costs £20 for one year or £54 for three years. Not every card has a three-year option. Discounts, eligible fares, time restrictions and buying methods vary; check each card’s current terms.

Buying methods vary by Railcard, so check the current official card information before purchasing. You must have the correct Railcard with you during your journey to use its eligible discounted fares.

Types of Railcard

All the Railcards have different eligibility criteria, some will only give you a discounted rate and some will also cover the people travelling with you. There is no limit to the number of times you can use any Railcard but some Railcards can only be used outside of peak times.
